Based on your description, you have a 6 ounce Coca-Cola cotnour-shaped bottle from 1953. Check the embossed lettering at the waist of the bottle, does it say: US PATENT OFFICE/MIN CONTENTS 6 FL OZ Coke bottles with the above lettering were produced from 1951 to 1958.In general, you look for:(1) glass thickness, uniformity(2) embossed or painted lettering -Here's a dating guide for the embossed letterings:1917-1928 BOTTLE PAT'D. NOV 16 19151928-1938 BOTTLE PAT'D. DEC 25 19231938-1951 BOTTLE PAT. D-1055291951-1958 US PATENT OFFICE/MIN CONTENTS 6 FL OZ1958-1965 US PATENT OFFICE/MIN CONTENTS 6 1/2 FL OZBeware that there were replicas of the BOTTLE PAT'D. DEC 25 1923 bottles made in 1989 these you can distinguish by looking for 89 embossed toward the lower waist of the bottle and the glass are more uniform than the original ones. Also you will find a 2 pairs of 2-digit code as you mentioned. One of them is the year code the 53 is what I used as a clue that it was from 1953.I hope this helps! |
